Keep Portland Weird(white)

Widely reputed for it’s progressive, idealistic culture and lush surrounding landscape; Portland Oregon boasts one of the most diverse and artistically vibrant communities in the entire “united” States. Portland welcomes the Transgendered, the Homosexual, the communally displaced and gives them a chance to claim their ostensible roles as “american citizens”. Small businesses flourish ( especially restaurants) organic farmers sell to those restaurants and those restaurants are likely to be gluten free. There is no shortage of boutiques, espresso shops, classic appointment-only Barbershops, Marijuana dispensaries, neighborhood gardens, and local beer breweries from which to choose. Bring your pink haired, head to toe tattooed, “pan-sexual”, weed smoking, hip-hop loving, liberal, Prius driving, Wu-tang listening self to “Portlandia” and you will be JUST FUCKING DELIGHTED! White people casually mill and sit and stand around like upright uptight cows while HOMELESS PEOPLE LINE THE GODDAMN STREETS WITH TENTS!But don’t worry, these “vile miscreants” are harrassed, beaten and jailed in an effort to improve Portland EVEN MORE! If you happen to be a young person, then your employment in the finer ,more chic areas of the urban localities is contigent upon one requirement; that you look like an American Apparel model. Otherwise, you can go far NE with the rest of the poor, ugly people & ethnic people and apply for a job at the Wal-Mart or the Pawn Shop. Maybe go down town and check with Mcdonalds. They always need new smiles. At any given moment, one is likely to encounter an ex- hippy who sold out long ago and is wearing a polo-shirt and a blue-tooth, a Metro-sexual male with a “man- bun” or a white person with dreadlocks adorning a combination of Rastafarian colors and the colors of the African flag. If you look closely, however, you will see Mexicans in kitchens and on lawns, Native Americans drunken & wandering and tweekers of various colors. Blacks seem to be quite rare but such is only true in the heart of this wonderfully diverse city. Gentrification has ensured that these lovely people are represented in the Northeast portion of the city. So, I bid you all NAMASTE! and greetings from the PDX!
